In the present, we look back on our relatively recent ancestors and see hunters hurling the first stone-tipped spears over distances that were not within the reach of their hands. We cannot see those moments clearly. We do not know the day the first spear was fashioned. We do not know when they first left the hands of a band of hunters, yet from the moment that this innovation occurred and word spread, those first few brought man’s first step onto the surface of the moon a giant leap closer. If you are committed to space and seek a new direction to advance its cause, then consider this unique approach to our common cause. Consider the Beyond Earth Institute. Consider signing up, or joining us, funding our research and public policy efforts, and making a difference beyond the world’s short term challenges.
Space, particularly as a home to those who can work and live there as well, needs more than just science and engineering innovation. It needs more than just the intersection of commercial, governmental and private interests. It needs new thinking about each that is worthy of comparison to the scientific and engineering breakthroughs that have made reaching beyond earth possible at all.
A second space era, or perhaps the second stage of this one, needs unique contributions and commitments. It needs you. Wherever you are in the world, stars are within your view on a clear night. Whatever your capacity to aid the efforts of those who have made space their lifelong pursuit, the light of your contribution is both meaningful and vital. Set your sights with us, beyond earth. Set your star in the heavens of humanity’s future . . . and make it shine there.
